In case you missed our “news” …
Here is the link to the CBS Evening News story that featured two local residents' quest to return to work. The second man, Ed, is a Workforce Network customer who used WIA funds to complete training at MCC. He has become re-employed, while the first man, who is not a Workforce Network customer, has been out of work for over a year. This illustrates how important this program can be in getting dislocated workers re-employed.

Share Your Training and Employment Success Stories!
Your ability to find services and make connections through physical and online Illinois workNet Centers is possible because of the federal framework that was created by Congress in 1998 called the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) .
Based on the Act, Illinois built a wonderful workforce development system to meet our citizens' needs. Illinois' workforce development system is flexible so that it can respond quickly to local needs and opportunities. Now that WIA is up for reauthorization, we hope that Congress makes Illinois' system a national model for success. Local leadership that provides credibility and guidance, coordinated efforts that leverage expertise of partners, and program accountability in the form of performance measures are a few reasons why the Illinois WIA network has produced effective results for other job seekers and businesses, and WIA can Work for you.
