Onsite Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Program
(Septic System)
The primary goal of the Private Disposal Program is to prevent the transmission of disease through the exposure to sewage. The McHenry County Public Health Ordinance contains stringent requirements for the siting of onsite wastewater treatment systems (septic systems). Onsite wastewater treatment systems, which are properly sited, constructed and maintained, represent a viable, long-term wastewater treatment option for meeting public health and water quality goals.
