Working to protect the health and safety of McHenry County Residents by planning for and responding to public health emergencies
Emergency preparedness means being ready if a disaster strikes. It is important to know what we can expect and how we will respond to a disaster before it happens. McHenry County Department of Health is preparing for a prompt and effective response to a variety of public health emergencies. Novel Influenza A- H7N9
On April 1, 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) first reported 3 human infections with a new influenza A (H7N9) virus in China. Since then, additional cases have been reported. Most reported cases have severe respiratory illness and, in some cases, have died. At this time, no cases of H7N9 outside of China have been reported. The new H7N9 virus has not been detected in people or birds in the United States.
