The Undersheriff is second in command and acts as department head in the absence of the Sheriff. The Undersheriff confers with the Sheriff to provide input concerning the goals and objectives of the department, assists and approves budget preparation to include planning, human resources allocations and program evaluations, assists the Sheriff in administrative functions of the Department, and develops and implements policies and procedures for the efficient operation of the department. The following divisions report directly to the Undersheriff: Patrol, Detective, Corrections, Training and General Support.

The responsibilities of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Officer are as follows:
1) To assist the Sheriff in developing, implementing, and evaluating the organization's policies and procedures in accordance with Federal laws prohibiting discrimination:
- Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), which prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and/or sexual harassment, or national origin.
- The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), which protects individuals who are 40 years of age or older.
- Title I and Title V of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), which prohibit employment discrimination against qualified individuals with disabilities in the private sector, and in state and local governments.
2) Utilize Recruiting efforts to increase diversity of qualified applicants.
3) Oversee internal assignments: awards, promotions, discipline, scheduling, and other such employee related actions, in accordance with the Federal laws listed above.
4) Investigate and assess sheriff employee complaints of discrimination and sexual harassment.
5) Responsible for the development and implementation of the Sheriff's Diversity Training Program.

- First try to confront the offender.
- Report through your first level and second level supervisor.
- Report to Sheriff, Undersheriff or EEO Officer.
