Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago

 

The Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago are a consortium of nine Workforce Boards covering the City of Chicago, Northern Cook County, South and West Suburban Cook County, DuPage County, Grundy/Livingston/Kankakee Counties, Kane/Kendall/DeKalb Counties, Lake County, McHenry County and Will County. The Workforce Boards of Metropolitan Chicago are committed to building a demand-driven workforce system. They link regional workforce investment activities with economic development organizations in order to support a workforce system that provides quality employees for employers and develops real career opportunities for job seekers. The developing system is intended to make it easy for business to make connections with qualified applicants and to access other vital workforce development services.

 McHenry County College Course Offerings

 

McHenry County College offers the following courses tha assist job seekers in certain skill areas. As information is received from the college it will be posted on the links listed below.

Adult Reading, GED and Spanish GED:
Free classes in English and Spanish. Pre-Registration and Orientation will be held before classes start.

English as a Second Language (ESL):
Free classes for beginning level non-English speakers. Pre-Registration and Orientation will be held before classes start.

Advanced ESL:
Free class for non-native speakers who want to prepare for college or improve business communication. Pre-Registration and Orientation before classes start.

Advanced Conversation in English:
Paid 8-week class for students who speak at an intermediate level and want to gain additional vocabulary and confidence in conversational English.

US Citizenship:
Free 7-week class will prepare students for taking the test and interview required for US citizenship.

Intensive GED Class:
Earn your GED faster by attending classes 4 days a week.
