Job Club (Network to Success) Meetings - This meeting takes place the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, with the purpose of providing a positive job search approach in a casual networking atmosphere. We may show videos, bring in speakers, or utilize the expertise of our staff. Our networking portion will allow participants to introduce themselves, network, discuss interviews and share job leads and tips with other members. Reservations are required.

 

Resume / Portfolio / Interview Basics - Learn what information belongs in your resume and what you should leave out. Topics include a discussion of the chronological and functional resume, cover letter writing, and how to email a resume. Preparing a resume for email will also be discussed. Learn the fundamentals of interview preparation and how to make the best impression. Topics include researching companies and salaries, dressing for the interview, body language, typical interview questions, salary negotiation, and following up after the interview. This class is recommended prior to setting up an appointment for Practice Interview. Go to our Workforce Network Calendar to see when the next Resume/Portfolio/Interview Seminar will be held. Basic Computer Skills Seminar -For those with minimal workable knowledge using a computer. Topics:  using a mouse; saving to a flash drive; Microsoft Word; email account creation/Internet usage. This is a hands-on workshop led by a business professional. Go to our Workforce Network Calendar to see when the next Basic Computer Skills Seminar will be held. Reservations are required.

 

Computer Basics Lab - Work at your own pace. Learn computer basics, Windows, Internet basics and email basics. Seating is limited. Typically the Computer Basics Lab runs every Friday afternoon, but check first on our Workforce Network Calendar; reservations are required.

 

Practice Interview Sessions - Interact with our Practice Interview Video. Over 1,500 interview questions, answers and hints. Customized interview scenarios for every user. Video cam records your response and plays it back. You can see and hear alternate responses and suggestions from a professional coach. Users can practice as many times as they wish. Ask at the Resource Room desk for information or to make an apopintment, or call 815-338-7100, Ext. 203. Appointments are available on Mondays between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

 

One-on-One Resume Critiques - Have you gotten good results from your resume? Do you need it critiqued? We have several business professional available on site to meet individually with Workforce Center customers. Schedule a half-hour time slot by emailing one of those professionals directly.
