Civil E-Filing Mandatory for Attorneys Sept. 1, 2017
After September 1, 2017, paper filings will no longer be accepted from attorneys in civil cases. Electronic filing will become mandatory for all civil new case and document filings for attorneys effective September 1, 2017, pursuant to 22nd Circuit Administrative Order 2017-07, which was entered July 18, 2017.
On January 22, 2016, the Illinois Supreme Court entered Order M.R. 18368 announcing mandatory electronic filing (E-filing) for civil cases in the Illinois Supreme, Appellate and Circuit Courts. Electronic filing became mandatory for the Supreme and Appellate Courts on July 1, 2017. The Circuit Courts are required to move to mandatory E-Filing in all civil cases by January 1, 2018. Pursuant to 22nd Circuit Administrative Order 2017-07, electronic filing will be mandatory in McHenry County for attorneys in all civil cases effective September 1, 2017. Electronic filing of civil cases will become mandatory for all self-represented litigants effective January 1, 2018.
