Take Charge of Your Diabetes
This 6 week workshop was developed by Stanford University and is free of charge. If you are at risk for or diagnosed with, or care for someone with diabetes, this workshop can help with a focus on improving physical activity, self care, nutrition and taking individual action steps.

1 in 3 people have Pre-diabetes with 90% not being aware that they have the disease. This A1C screening is a simple finger stick blood test. There is no fasting required and this screening will provide immediate results about the average blood sugar for the past 3 months. You must be 18 or older to participate and registration is required.

The Department of Health and the Board of Health completed an annual review of the McHenry County Public Health Ordinance, and a few updates have been approved by both the Board of Health and the County Board. These changes are effective January 1, 2018; this document gives an overview as well as redline and final versions of the updates for your review.
Community Health Screenings - Appointments available
Your cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index numbers are key indicators of your risk for chronic disease. McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) will screen for these important risk factors. Make an appointment or call 815-334-4510 for more information.
