 Residential paint recycling event May 16, 17 & 18

We are partnering with Greenwood Township Highway Department & Marengo Township Highway Department to provide a      pre-registered no-charge residential paint collection event from May 16th through May 18th, 2018. View the flyer for more information or contact us at 815-334-4585 to register. 

    Diabetes Blood Sugar A1C Screening

There is no fasting required for this simple finger stick blood test and immediate results will be provided.  There is no charge for this screening however, you must be 18 or older to participate and registration is required.

National Prescription Take Back Day

According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. A majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

Take Charge of Your Diabetes
Self-Management Workshop

This 6 week workshop was developed by Stanford University and is free of charge.  If you are at risk for or diagnosed with, or care for someone with diabetes, this workshop can help with a focus on improving physical activity, self care, nutrition and taking individual action steps.

WIC (Women Infants & Children) Nutritional Supplements

Ordinance Updates

The Department of Health and the Board of Health completed an annual review of the McHenry County Public Health Ordinance, and a few updates were approved by both the Board of Health and the County Board. These changes were effective January 1, 2018; this document gives an overview as well as redline and final versions of the updates for your review.

Community Health Screenings - Appointments available

Your cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index numbers are key indicators of your risk for chronic disease.  McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) will screen for these important risk factors.  Make an appointment  or call 815-334-4510 for more information.

 McHenry County Flu Surveillance
